9-3 Top failure, intermittent

Love my 2004 9-3 convertible. However for a 6 hour periof the top would not raise or lower, then poof, it worked again. At that point the dealer could find nothing wrong, anyone hear of such intermittent problems. This may be a one time glitch, but thought I would do my homework and ask some experts...you! Any help?

Only two things that it could be, a short in the convertibles system wiring harness or actuation motor, or low fluid (probally the fore more so than the latter).
I suggest that you check all of the connections for a possible loose terminal/short, particularly at the pump motor and while you're at it, check to make sure that the fluid in the reservior is topped up.

your fluid level is most likely low (i'm guessing an old 9-3, not sport sedan 9-3). cause is at least one of your hydraulic cylinders is leaking. get the checkbook.
