Something a bit odd..90CorollaSR5 04-07-2004, 05:52 PM I own a 1990 Toyota Corolla SR5 with the 4A-FE engine. It makes 103 hp and 102 torque yet for some reason i've beaten every integra i've raced. Now i've only raced the RS and GS models, but they still have 142 hp and something like 132 torque? Integras are a little bit heavier than my car I believe, but how come i've beaten everyone i've come against by 2+ car lengths? Is it just pure driving skill difference? Not to mention I have a slipping clutch and my 2nd gear doesn't max out at what it normally does. ridge_runner 04-07-2004, 07:39 PM one word... weight.... i think for every 80 pounds its .1 of a second or something ridge_runner 04-07-2004, 07:42 PM so lets says your remove 80 pounds of weight you 1/4 mile will be .1 of a second faster fatninja19 04-07-2004, 08:42 PM I thought it was every 100? ridge_runner 04-08-2004, 12:52 AM maybe it is.. ive heard 80 and 100 90CorollaSR5 04-08-2004, 02:16 AM My car weighs around 2400lbs and an integra weighs around 2500-2600 doesn't it? Shouldn't the additional 40 hp and 30 torque make up for that 200 lbs? Also I have some audio equipment which weighs a bit. Igovert500 04-08-2004, 04:20 AM its 100lbs lost = .1 better as far as why you are winning, realise that it is more then hp/weight ratio. Yes this is a big role, but not everything. Torque, as you mentioned matters. But so do gear ratios, traction, auto vs. manual, aerodynamics...drivers...plenty of things. JK It's all about the power/weight ratio that has been mentioned... also what mods do you have? How about those Teg's? 142HP? Modded or stock??? Isn't that a lil' far-fetched for stock? I thought like 120-130hp stock? Oh, well... never said I knew anything about Hon-duhs.... 90CorollaSR5 04-09-2004, 04:27 AM All the integras i've raced have been manual. Although my car does have a closer ratio gearbox, and drivers do make a difference. Raz_Kaz 04-09-2004, 10:12 AM Well they made the GS Integra up until 93, discontinued for 4 years and then came back in 97.All GS models came stock with 140Hp and 126ft-lbs torque. Now the 2nd gen RS Teg's come with the same specs but about 100lbs lighter. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
