Having Issues MR2 N/A but want either turbo or superchargerdefender15 04-06-2004, 12:14 PM Heres a quick question do they even make super chargers for the MK2s, because I have been looking for a while now and can't find one. Next, I have read a lot about how difficult it would be to turn an MR2 MK2 N/A into a turbo, if it had not already been made for it, how much difference is there in an N/A engine and a turbo engine, I mean well hooking it up. Any help will be greatly apreciated. MR2Driver 04-06-2004, 05:19 PM Its not worth it to turbo your engine, it'll be cheaper in the long run to just order a 3rd gen 3S-GTE rear clip and get that installed into your N/A. Its a 245 HP version of our engine with a better turbo that pulls hard to redline... racerh03 04-06-2004, 06:31 PM how much would that cost, with labor like an estimate drazhartd 08-07-2004, 11:43 PM Heres a quick question do they even make super chargers for the MK2s, because I have been looking for a while now and can't find one. A supercharger alone would cost as much as a 3rd gen turbo clip ($3,000) and you wouldn't get nearly the same performance. To turn your NA into turbo would require everything being changed out, tranny, motor, wiring harness, ecu, everything. So, you must order yourself a turbo rear clip. 2nd gen clips (with various mileage) range from 2000-2500 SHIPPED. 3rd gens are upwards of $3,000. The biggest difference of the 3rd gen motor is the new CT20b turbo. Which pulls to redline, unlike the 2nd gen turbo's CT26 (the ones we get in america) JekylandHyde 08-08-2004, 08:02 PM As stated, the 2 or 3 attempts at making SC kits for hte NA MR2 resulted in price tags above $2500 ... much cheaper to get a turbo set up. JekylandHyde 08-08-2004, 08:03 PM ... as for the difference between the 5SFE (NA engine) and the 3SGTE (turbo engine): 3SGTE = fatory built race capable engine 5SFE = factory built economy engine with a little pep vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
