Something strange I heard from a R34 owner at IASCBXweb 04-06-2004, 02:15 AM Well, me any my friend were gawking at the cars at SEMA IAS on saturday where we say the R32,33, and some ultra cool R34 (I'll post pics soon). Well, there was this white R34 that me and my friend saw, and we noticed that unlike the other skylines there, it did not have a "subsitute for US V.I.N" on it. We asked the owner whats up with that. He resonded, "This car is not legal for american streets, whenever we drive it on the freeway we are afraid that it would get impounded." Then he said which was very strange, "You know, you can ship over a R32 and the R33 over here with no porblem and they are street legal." :screwy: I was like "heck no!!" in my mind but I couldnt really debate with a guy who owned a R34 :p . But is this guy on crack or is he telling the truth? oi_boy 04-06-2004, 03:07 AM hes on crack. all skylines have to be legalized for US street use. you can bring em in for show or race purposes only. for show use you can only drive it 2500 miles a year, but it is VERY VERY VERY hard to get it in for show or race purposes. i dont know how he got the r34 in.... flylwsi 04-06-2004, 04:30 PM he may have been referring to the fact that you can get an r32/33 legalized, but not an r34... which is true... oi_boy 04-06-2004, 04:57 PM Then he said which was very strange, "You know, you can ship over a R32 and the R33 over here with no porblem and they are street legal." thats what he said. he said the guy said you can import r32s and r33s implying you didnt have to legalize them...which is untrue. at this point all skylines EXCEPT the r34 can be imported and legalized. i heard motorex is planning on renewing their contract for legalizing r34s sometime by the end of this year. thegladhatter 04-07-2004, 02:06 AM he may have been referring to the fact that you can get an r32/33 legalized, but not an r34... which is true... I think this is what the guy was referring to and it IS correct. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
