Hello all, I'm a newbie here...I just purchased a '96 Aurora and the previous owner showed me the records for the last oil change which was a week ago and he followed all the little things I guess to get it reset like key on, key off, then start (don't know if that works) and I guess the reset button but the "Change Engine Oil" msg is still on the screen...I was going to try disconnecting the battery or something but was wondering if anyone has any other suggestions...Plus the guy lost the manual so I'm lost at how things work...anyone know were I could get a simple manual...Thanks in advance..Kev

P.S. I'm interested in the air box cleanout instead of a cone filter..If anyone could point me to a site with pic's or info I would appreciate it..I searched this forum and couldn't really find anything.

:banghead:try holding reset button for 20 seconds or longer.i remember having the same problem.hold it down till oil resets.this was done on purpose to prevent accidently erasing oil life.let me know if this works.

I think you have to have the car on, in park, and, as 1995oldsaurora said, you've got to hold the reset button in for 20-30 seconds before it will reset the oil life monitor...

20-30 seconds is a little long, press the ENG button until you get to Oil Life, then press and hold RESET for 5-10 seconds. It will clear and read 100% OIL LIFE.

Then hit RCL and it should say MONITORED SYSTEMS OK

Thanks for the posts, I will try them asap...I still can't find a manual online (free) so I guess I will have to buy or goto a junk yard and see if I can round one up.

I have a link at home in my favourites list, if it still works I will post it.

You can go to www.mygmlink.com and register your car, they have owners manuals there.

Thanks dred98...I went there and registered and did find the manual...now I just have to decide if I want to save it to my laptop and go sit in the car and check things out or do I print the 388 pages...I'm going to see if it puts more then one section per page now..Thanks again.
