HI all im new to this board , here goes my question , i bought a celica 85 gt , its in good shape for the year , but i want to restore it , the 1st thing i wanted to do was take out those nasty stripes in the sides of the car (you know what im talking about right) but as soon as i took one of stripes i noticed they did holes to hold the stripes , in the near future im planing to paint the car ,but i dont want those stripes , so can any one give some ideas on how to cover up those nasy holes in the side so you can hardly see the holes , thanks a lot in advance .

Hey, my wifes got a 84 gt and I have a 91 gt-s. Id like to restore my wifes but it was hit and itd be too much work. As far as those stripes...its actually called trim and its always got holes behind it. The cheapest option is to have the trim painted to match the car. It looks sharper and youll still have protection from door dings and stuff. Otherwise youd have to have a body shop fill them in and paint them....should cost a whole lot. Hope this helps.

Good idea, If your going to prep it yourself just fill them in with bondo then prime and have it painted. Bondo should be all you need for holes that small. Just make sure you do it right.

Yes go with the Bondo.. If the holes are anything like mine however they have little plastic rings inside them aswell that would have to be removed.. If those arnt there then your good to go..

I Am A Body & Paint Tech. I Am Restoring My 82 Celics Gt, So If You Need Any Help Or Sugestions, I Am A Good Sorce. Right Now I Am Putting A New Rear Clip On It From A 85 Celics With A Sunroof (good Upgrade). I Also Do A Lot Of Engine Work With The 22r. So I Can Help In That Area Also.

I would suggest welding the holes shut. They are small and wouldnt require alot of metal. Fill it up with weld and slowly grind it down for a smooth finish to paint over.

Just Remember One Thing, That The Moldings Go Into The Wheel Wheel Extensions And You Will Have To Fiberglass Where The Molding Went. It Is A Lot Of Work. Whatever You Descide....have Fun
