Foglight ? (among others)

Trying to figure out these foglights. When I push the button in to turn them on the button pushes all the way in! Is this how its supposed to be??? Also the foglights aren't coming on so is it that the button is broke or is it the obvious, the bulbs are out? Theres a green light on the button the stays lit but no lights? HELP!!! Also, recently my air has been cold on passenger side and hot as you know what on drivers side, recharge or something more????? yesterday it did that and when I stopped at the restaurant I was going to I turned off the car and turned it back on and the air was fine! Today im having the same prob. Hot on drivers side, cold on passenger. Hope you guys can help but as always im sure you can. Thanks guys (and gals)

The button isn't supposed to go all of the way in. If the green light comes on and stays on, it's likely that the foglights are burned out (can't be a fuse issue, as, when my fuse went, the green light wouldn't come on).

I'd have the pressure checked in your A/C... you definitely don't want to be running the A/C (or defrost) if it's low (images of grenaded AC compressor still vivid in my mind after 2 years - thank god for extended warranties). It could also be a problem with the "blend box" which is supposed to adjust the hot/cold air based upon your HVAC settings, but I'd start with getting the system pressure-tested and refilled (find a good automotive cooling place if you're not familiar with adding refrigerant yourself, and stay away from the dealer).

Thanks alot RobertHammen, great advice from you as always, Ill just go get some new bulbs for the foglights and go from there. Are they pretty easy to replace??? Do I replace them from under the car or what?

Makes good sense Robert, also check that lil dial on the passenger side arm rest...helps to check everythnig off the list before you go get it looked at I suppose

Hey Jim!!!! Checked that little dial, seems to work pretty good but nothing for my side.

Those foglamps are a pain to replace. You need to remove the lower horizontal air deflector to get to the fogs. Its much easier to have the car elevated to work on it. I can barely fit my head under and I'm not that big. Most Aurora owners just run with the fogs off...its that much of a pain. Unless of course you dispose of the lower air deflector, be sure not to confuse the rock/curb guard with the horizontal deflector beyond.

I don't have to totally remove anything to change mine... but I've only done this twice in three years (once last spring to change the bulbs that had burned out, and then a month ago to change out the bulbs for SilverStars). You do have to loosen/remove the clips in the center of the front fascia, and then, laying on your back, you can pull the fascia forward, reach into the gap, and un-twist the bulb & cable from the light enclosure, pull it out, replace the bulb, then reverse. I have big hands and I wear rubber gloves, partly to protect my hands (it's kinda tight), and also to not get any fingerprints on the new bulbs (which can lead to premature burnout).

I personally would not remove the front fascia as it does have some purpose in the air intake/cooling of the car, and several people have noted increased engine temps with it gone. The Aurora already runs on the hot side, so there's no need to tempt fate by making it run hotter...

I agree Robert, leave the all the plastic sheilds/deflectors in place, its a bit of a struggle to change the bulbs (fogs) but its do-able.

theres a split between the front guard and the under shield ...just pull down on the the under shield (pops out) where it meets the front guard and you and reach up in then just tuck/pop the shield back in place

I have to agree with Rorastar...I'd drop that horizontal cover to replace the bulbs....much easier overall

Horizontal cover/undershield whatever ...same thing!! Either way you don't have to remove anything (like hammerman said above) ...just pull down on the front edge of it. I've done it several times ...I can replace a fog bulb in 5 minutes!!

jjdewd, I have a burnt out fog on my passenger side, I have the bulb, I'm goin down this weekend to replace, I will give your tip a try!

My deflector has broken in the past, it dropped out of its front slots *cough130mphcough* so I have been under there and its not fun!

I yield to your experience pulling and prying on the various fascias, air deflectors, and other non-metallic pieces that hinder easy access to the fog lamp bulbs. The single characteristic of these types of parts is there tendency, over time, to become less and less resilient as a result of temperature fluctuations and their age in general. (i.e.: you may one day find that you have moved to the material's yield point and it becomes permanently deformed or worse yet you reach its fracture point.) Armed with the basic knowledge of these material types I choose to take the extra time to avoid self-inflicted damage to my vehicle and simply remove the pieces.

I have time on my side here, my lower air delflector is brand spankin new. Today that fogger is getting changed ;)

The easiest way I find to change my fog lights is to put it on the hoist and just remove it and replace the lights.

What will I do someday when I don't have a hoist anymore? I don't plan on living here forever!
