Re-programming keyless entry

I was looking at the other similar threads, but I still can't figure out how to program the keyless entry on the door of my '89 TC. I bought it used and nobody knew the code. It's a shame having the feature and not knowing the code!
Thanks

You're going to have to find the module if the code stickers aren't in the usual places.

I'm not too sure where the module or the code stickers are located in the 1989. I've heard some are in the trunk as pictured in the attached link, some are behind the glovebox compartment, and mine (1996) is inside the drivers door.

The code sticker should be on the module too, but in case it's not, you can open the module and determine the code by reading the configuration of the resistors.

bdklein put together a very nice page on changing you factory code, which details how the codes are set at the factory.

Man that was pretty d@mn easy. I was looking around in my trunk and behind my glovebox, and the box wound up being under my glovebox under some carpet. Thankfully it had the sticker on it with the code.

Thanks for the advice TC, it's nice being able to use the key pad

Hi I just bought a 1988 TC. I looked behind the glovebox. Looked all in the trunk and still can't find a lock box. I did find a box in the trunk with two sets of wires on each side but I unplugged it and the locks still worked so I assumed that is for the stero system. Where are the "usual" places the unlock code is located? Also any ideas on where else to look for this unit? What is it called. I might try a little more google searching. Any help appreciated. Please email as well.

Yours should be the same as Ford5.0's. It's called the "Keyless Entry Control Module". There's several pictures of it in the link above from ~bdklein.

OK....I know how aggravating repeat posts are, but I have read everything there is here to read on this subject, and STILL can't seem to find this module that everyone keeps talking about. I just got a '93 TC Cartier, and the sticker in the trunk is gone. I have looked behind and below the glove box, and all around the trunk. The only thing I haven't done is removed the drivers side door panel. I'm hoping that someone here knows the precise location. Thnx in advance!!!

Macmike, the sticker with the keyless code should be on the passenger side trunk hinge, that's where it is on my '88.

I've read the early 90's were behind the glovebox. You had to actually remove the glovebox shell, and the module was behind there.

It may have been only the 90/92... there isn't much posted about them. Makes me wonder when keyless entry was introduced to the Town Cars.

The majority of threads cover from 94 on up, and I can speak literally for 95/97.

IF yours is in the drivers door, it'll be in the front/lower section in clear unobstructed view. The code number should be ink stamped on the outside shell, if not you can still obtain the code by "reading" the positions the resistors are soldered on the internal circuit board.

A lot of mechanics will also write a keyless entry code down somewhere in the trunk neqar the spare tire, either in marker or with a paint stick. If you see a series of numbers or letters hand written in the trunk, you can try them also.
