my moms boyfriend down in vegas was having a party so we went to it and there were al kinds of people that came it was fun, then after everyone was leaving we set up the ps2 and was playing then a guy named ryan came up started playing football with us, and we talked for a bit, then went for a ride in his car, we didn't know wut car he had, then saw it was a wrx, it was fast, cant remeber what he's done to it, but we stopped at a stop sign, and he revved the engine and launched it, after that i felt like going out and buying one right away, it was crazy.

Yes yes, WRXs are pretty darn quick....never raced one but I'm pretty sure I'd lose.

I was up at Big Bear yesterday and almost everyone has a damn Subaru! No Shit! They are awesome cars and I hope to own an STI or WRX someday!

But what does this have to do with street-racing...? LoL

meh, i'll give a wrx a run for its money. the STI's on the other hand are an awesome machine. I also hope to get an STI sometime in the future, only problem with wrx's is every man and his dog has one in Australia. Them and skylines are so common it makes you kinda sick of them.

well it has to do with the street racing forum cause we were driving around at like 80 in a neighborhood type area, someday i wanna get an outback or legacy wagon, and make it fast as hell like some really cool project car but it would be a sleeper too, even have one of the hard shell things on top to put luggage in, lol.

i'd only fear a (stock) wrx from a dead stop. once they start with the mods it's a different story. but 5.4 0-60 is their marketing ploy. my friend took a wrx from a 10-15 mph roll in his cl type S and that thing runs a 6.someting to 60.

Yeah I've seen WRX's race before, and they'll beat almost anything off the line.

My car is much faster from 10 than it is from 0

most cars are. once initial traction isn't an issue it's more of a fair race. i wouldn't race a wrx from a dead stop and expect to win but i think from a roll i could. i'd at least be significantly closer from a roll.

your car isn't a wrx is it? i thought i remembered you saying you were NA in one thread or another.

It isn't a WRX, but it's still AWD. I'm just saying that AWD isn't the only thing the car has going for it. 1st - 3rd gears are way low and pull like hell.

Yep same in NZ, but lets add the EVO into that mix. The regular Skylines (non GTR) yes there are heaps of them running around here.
A quick note on the STi WRX though, the ones produced from 2000 onwards were much more grunty than the previous ones. Guys go to tuning shops to try and get more out of them with just exhaust, pods and filter and at the end of the day they don't see much increase.

Short gear ratios. hell yes they have that for sure! Hence they feel so rapid. To give you an example I'm just winding 3rd gear out while the WRX is nearly 1/4 the way through 5th. High speeds they don't have while acceleration is quite good as mentioned though they are not awesome from a rolling start. I've taken a few guys out who own WRX's and EVO's alike in the R and they get a different perspective on how much gear ratio's play a big part.

I hope this guys isn't into launching his WRX too much as they have shockingly weak gearboxes for that punishment. Not to mention the boxer motor is natoriously weak in it's factory construction. Usually guys pull them down and dowel them to keep them from twisting.
