is a base stealth faster than an es/rtduffman667 04-04-2004, 02:14 PM i have been in my friends stealth quite a few times and everytime we go against and es/rt stealth we seem to be able to beat it and all he has on his car is a proflow exhaust and a slight tune up... i was just wondering what the hell is up with that. his car is an automatic and i was wondering if the es stealths just like weighed a shit load or something. would someone please inform me. thanks Amish_kid 04-04-2004, 02:48 PM With a es or base model Stealth they are only fwd with 200 or 220 IIRC also the rt has a twin turbo 300 hp awd, so yeah you can pretty much figure out why he is losing to them. LjasonL 04-04-2004, 05:50 PM Base models and ES's are rather slow. RT's aren't. If your friends base model is beating RT's, it's because the RT isn't racing. duffman667 04-04-2004, 07:21 PM yeah i kind of figured they arent racing because i own a rt and i whoop him... so either they arent racing or their car just sucks. but thanks for telling me. 2000LS1Z28 04-04-2004, 09:20 PM A base stealth will make about ~fart~ horsepower. If people are losing in an R/T Twin turbo they dunno how to drive worth a bean. It's not surprsing though, cause alot of people have trouble driving a stick shift. People clowned me all the time for running a 2.3 sec. 60' at Speedway, then again I see people running 2.6 sec. 60' (My brother). My best time was with a 2.3 60' Polygon 04-06-2004, 03:08 PM Base/ES: 175HP RT: 224HP RT/TT: 300/320HP So, he could run against an ES, but wouldn't stand a change against either RT. LjasonL 04-06-2004, 03:58 PM :dunno: I never knew there was a non turbo RT Polygon 04-06-2004, 05:27 PM Neither did I until I beat one. Then I had to ask a friend of mine who is pretty knowledgeable about the Stealth and 3000GT and he confirmed there is an RT non-turbo. It turns out his first Stealth was an RT. Raz_Kaz 04-06-2004, 06:07 PM Actually the Base/ES has about 164Hp and the RT/SL about 222 and the RT TT/VR-4 about 300 or 320 depending on first or second gen Either way, the base/es model is in no way capable of beating an rt taking into consideration that both drivers know what the hell their doing Igovert500 04-08-2004, 03:50 AM Ok, a few corrections are in order. First off, the R/T was not turbo, but the R/T TT stealth was. Actually the Base/ES has about 164Hp and the RT/SL about 222 and the RT TT/VR-4 about 300 or 320 depending on first or second gen Either way, the base/es model is in no way capable of beating an rt taking into consideration that both drivers know what the hell their doing Secondly the ES wasn't equivalent to the base(164hp), but rather the RT stealth and the SL 3000gt, with the 222hp 3.0 liter DOHC engine. They only made the ES 91-93. To check out all years and models: http://www.team3s.com/FAQ-Specs1.htm The ES and normal R/Ts are mid to low 15 second cars with a good driver, if you are racing one of these (in a base 164hp SOHC) you should lose. If you race a R/T TT(13.5-14.1, depending if 91-93 or 94-96 respectively) you should be getting you ass handed to you. kingpinn 04-12-2004, 05:10 AM my girl has a 93 es and that thing is fairly quick but to damn big 4200lbs but its ok i would say she could run a 15.8 thats stock ...just my take... Igovert500 04-12-2004, 10:20 PM How is hers 4200? You sure you got that right? The SL w/MT weighed 3280 lbs(roughly) SL w/ auto tranny = 3370 lbs Typically the stealths weighed less than the mitsubishi counterparts due to the features offered and different body styling. My vr4 weighs near 3800, and that's with 2 turbos, intercooler, AWD, all wheel steering, and active aerodynamics, just to name a few of the reasons. So I sincerely doubt the car weighs 4200lbs, unless your weighing it with 4 passengers, some 12" subs, and the kitchen sink. People think these cars are extremely heavy, and granted they are heavier then most, but they aren't that bad. 2000LS1Z28 04-12-2004, 10:30 PM I believe my former stealth R/T Twin turbo weighed over 3700 pounds. Not a light car by far. Oh, and i'm positive it had a turbo too :p Sucker costed a fortune for an HKS B.O.V. Raz_Kaz 04-12-2004, 10:54 PM I believe my former stealth R/T Twin turbo weighed over 3700 pounds. Not a light car by far. Oh, and i'm positive it had a turbo too :p Sucker costed a fortune for an HKS B.O.V. Actually both the 3000gt VR4 and the stealth R/T TT AWD weigh about the same for all years. There are some 100 lbs differences between the other models not exactly sure on what years and what models. Theoreticaly speaking, they are the same cars with different names and aerodynamic designs...other than that, same exact specs. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
