greetings: i have a stock trailer that I hitch to my jeep and pull two horses. I am in need of tires and wonder about appropriate tires for my 97 jeep grand cherokee with a V8 engine. I live in snow country but don't usually haul in the winter. thanks.

I tow a 20' travel trailer with my 97 JGC and I use
CONTINENTAL SPORT LT/SUV. They have a good weight rating and they are a harder rubber. They are longer lasting than softer tires, but they make the ride a bit more like a truck than a car. Not bad!

You can also check out the Michelin LTX M/S tires - the "M/S" stands for Mud and Snow, although they're a great year-round tire with more of a car-like than truck-like feel. Mileage rating is good, too. I have my second set on now on my 96 JGC.

I have the LIberator All Terrain and they are great.

can you tell me if you use a load leveling hitch, air shocks, or how much tounge weight? If you have more than 400 lbs i suggest going with a class D steel belted radial tire. You must also replace all four tires with the same size all the way around if you have 4WD or AWD. class d is slightly higher load range, will last longer because the tread is deeper and the side wall will give less and produce less friction which will enhance your gas milage and leave more available power when towing. They are about $15 a tire more.
