Oil PressureR33:GTS-t 01-08-2002, 09:41 PM My R33 GTS-t tends to hang around the 4 to 8 figure in oil pressure, never reachs 8 usually hanging around 5mm away from the 8 line..Is this bad ? It drops down to 4 after a while and can creep up to the same mark (just under 8) after a hit to 6, 67rpm... Is this a bad sign...I thought they are suppose to be a little lower ? enilyks33r 01-09-2002, 03:53 PM My GTS-t is running Mobil 1 and I hit 8 at start up, when warmed up 4-6 depending on revs and 2 at idle, the previous oil (unknown) was 1-1.5 higher, so i suspect that oil pressure is very viscosity sensitive. I am happier with the lower pressure as it indicates that oil is flowing through the engine and turbo without excessive restriction and it can do the cooling/lubricating its meant to be doing. The oil pressure sounds OK but change oils and you may see a change down in pressure. Gtr2.7L 01-09-2002, 09:15 PM I get the same...almost eight when the oil is cold....then 4-6 after warmed up for normal driving....but the pressure goes way up when you rev the engine. I just put in a brand new NISMO oil pump and checked all lines, filter, and cooler to make sure there weren't any clogs. The real bitch for me is that I changed my tranny fluid to a higher grade...and on cold mornings, the shit is so think before it warms up, it's an absolute SHIT to put in gear! NT_VlaD 01-15-2002, 11:37 PM Weird shit ... I just put Mobil # 1 in my GTS T and now the pressure sits around 3 1/2 at cruise speed (say 3000 ) It used to be around 4 all the time with previous oil (unknown , first oil change for me) The other thing I have noticed is how inconsistant the pressure is ?? Sometimes its 2 ....while cruising .....then you look again and its 3 1/2 ... ?? No idea why tho ... Its annoying .. zapf 01-17-2002, 03:56 AM Nissan is know to have Oil sender issues in 300ZX's. So I am not suprised that it happens in skylines too... But Mobil 1 is know to have lower oil pressure than most other Top of the line oils. Hence quite a few ppl I know stays away from them. Zapf numpty 06-01-2002, 03:09 AM I have just purchased a R33 GTS-T Coupe automatic. It is a fresh used Jap import and the first thing I did was change the oil and filter as the oil pressure was not very good (around 2 - 3 at cruise). The oil looked like it had not been changed since Adam was a boy. After the oil change I drove back home, a 400 km drive, and the pressure was fine (about 4 - 5 at cruise) however since then it has been reading about 2 - 3 on the gauge once it has warmed up and sometimes lower. I used some STP engine flush today and changed the oil and filter again (Penzoil semi synthetic) but to no avail. I am thinking either oil pressure gauge or sender unit problems or a partially blocked oil gallery or oil pick- up in the sump. Can anyone help? Glitch 06-05-2002, 08:27 PM Oil pressure is only supposed to be 2kg/cm Idling, 3kg/cm Cruising (about 2000 - 3000rpm) and 4kg/cm @ 6000rpm. It will always be more in the morning due to the oil being cold and its rating vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
