I recently purchased a 2000 Sierra 1500 ext. cab. It has 89000 miles on it. I notice a slight, for lack of a better way to explain it, "squeeking" sound after I put the truck in drive, but before any real torque is applied. The dealer says it is an inherent problem with the slip yolk and that they can take it apart and grease it or replace it. Hoping to find out from others out there if this is a logical explanation or if they have ever heard of that.

usually that slip yoke makes a clunking sound but i guess it could squeak.

It may have been a cross between a squeek and a clunk and I could definately "feel" it when it did it. However, I am happy to report that a new nickel plated slip yolk took care of the problem! Better yet, since I pointed the sound out to the dealer within a couple of days after I took possession of the truck, they fixed it for free. I can't complain about our local GMC dealership! 7 vehicles in the last 10 years for our immediately family and they have been great on all of them.
