Auto Tranny "hanging"

Hey guys!

I bought a '99 Accord EX-V6 about a month ago, and so I'm starting to notice quirks that weren't there when I first bought it :) (chock it up to my first carbuying experience!).

Anyway, one that has me concerned/curious is that the transmission seems to "hang" when shifting. I'm not a hard accelerator, and I don't revv the engine, but I find that especially the shift from 1st to 2nd seems to just "hang" there (keep in mind, the RPM's aren't very high, MAYBE 3500), and then it will just shift really quick. I've tried accelerating a little more quickly, and it still "hangs".

There are no abnormal sounds when shifting.

Would having my transmission flushed help this? Is this indicative of a serious problem?

Any help would be appreciated :)

Hi, I have a 2000 accord with auto tranny with the same problem too. I think it's common problem. My family has 2x 2000 Accord and one 2001 model, they seems to kick the car when its changing certain gear.

Though I heard something about recall on transmission, but only on certain year and vin number i think. http://www.safetyalerts.com/search/query.idq?CiScope=%2F&CiMaxRecordsPerPage=10&TemplateName=query&CiSort=rank%5Bd%5D&HTMLQueryForm=..%2Fsrch.htm&CiRestriction=Honda+Accord

If there's no recall on yours, check your trans oil, make sure they are pinkish not dark faded pink. The dipstick should b at the lower left next to the engine block. If its dark then you should have it change.

I changed all that and still have the kicking motion, what I do to avoid kicking is when I'm slowing down for a stopsign or sharp turn, I would release the gas padal and then shift the gear from D4 to D3, it should avoid the kickin motion from tranny, then shift it back to D4 as you gained speed.
