97JGC Rear Lamp Failuredellryan 03-27-2004, 01:23 PM Hello, Does anyone know how or where to fix the Rear Lamp Failure on the display screen? My rear lamps are working, I think this started showing up when the door was closed rather hard. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank You i have a 1994 jgc and it did the same thing have you checked the back window brake lights on mine the left side went out only and you couldnt really even tell but when i figured it out i replaced the bulb and the rear lamp display went off so you might want to check that out. Dsilver 04-26-2004, 09:48 PM Good call, that sounds right. spazz3 05-01-2004, 10:26 PM I just ran into this problem yesterday, it happened to be the two little lights that shine on the licence plate. Dsilver 05-02-2004, 12:03 AM Hah, that must have been a pain in the butt to find. mieth 06-02-2004, 11:54 PM This happened to me and it was because the upper center brake lights were of the wrong type. They were working, but just the wrong number. They were type 906, and when I replaced them with the 921 as specified in my ops manual the problem was gone. I lived with that problem for over a year and boy do I feel stupid!! dksob81 09-09-2004, 02:30 AM Happened to me, checked all the bulbs thought they were ok, rechecked (had someone hold the brakes pedal in), noticed the high mount stop light was blown. my suggestion have someone press the brakes as u check all the bulbs there are 3 bulbs ( I think) in the high mount stop light, also check the license plate light. there are 2 bulbs here... this should take care of ur prob. texheart 01-03-2005, 06:18 PM Ok, I've tried all of the suggestions, found the license plate light blown. Replaced and still the computer panel flashes REAR LGHT FAILURE. Everything is working! Any other siggestions? gunjes 01-03-2005, 11:23 PM I had, and still have, the same problem and found it to be the "Lamp Outage Module". It is directly plugged into the rear wiring harness. I had to remove the spare tire and go throught the access panel to locate it. It's about a four by four black box. Just an idea dksob81 01-04-2005, 10:43 AM TEX look closer to the HIGH MOUNT stop lights check all three bulbs, they are hard to c go over each section make sure they are all working, it hard to notice because they are so close so the other bulb(s) will illuminate the blown out one as well. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
