exhaustsjahobo13 03-22-2004, 09:38 PM I am trying to build my own exhaust for my 96 accord instead of buying a premade one. I was thinking about buying some stainless steel piping and using a pipe bender to bend it into shape then buying a muffler and I'm not sure if I would need a new cat. converter. I'm thinking this might be a bit difficult so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions... 92accordtx 04-04-2004, 03:32 PM you probably will need a new cat conveter to handle the added hp. the hp isnt much that is added but if you want it to sound better i would get a new one. jazer80 04-04-2004, 07:13 PM why do you want to make your own? jahobo13 04-04-2004, 09:00 PM for fun of course! I just got into "playing" with my car and I figured why not have some fun. I mean if it doesn't as well as a bought one, oh well, but I'll also learn stuff doing it Igovert500 04-05-2004, 03:20 PM That's cool. Um, you wont gain too much hp, but it depends how much of the exhaust you plan to replace. If you are going with a homemade cat-back system, then you really don't need to replace the cat. But personally if you are expanding the diameter of your exhaust pipes then I'd get 4-2-1 header and a hi-flow cat, and then build the rest. jahobo13 04-05-2004, 05:59 PM thanks, over time my idea has gotten a little shot down so I think I'm just going to get a high flow cat and maybe a muffler or somthing. I've looked around and from what I have found I think it would be a little too difficult to build it. Thanks for the advice though! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
