Homemade Avalanche landtoy80 03-22-2004, 07:47 PM
I am making a Avalanche from my 87 Sub "The Turd". I will call it Turdvalanche. Has anyone done it yet? I had some problems with rusted fuel lines and brake lines. THe part store doesn't sell the tank to filter line so I cut the line and put some 5/8" rubber fuel line where the leak was. I used about 3' of rubber line with hose clamps. I will replace them with injector clamps. Any problem with this? It is a TBI 350. midori 03-23-2004, 03:10 AM Are you talking about just doing a front clip conversion, or are you actually going to turn the rear end into a truck bed?? dirty dan 03-23-2004, 12:20 PM Probably OK with rubber fuel line. Max pressure on TBI is 13 psi. landtoy80 03-24-2004, 06:08 PM I cut the back off so it is like a 4dr Blazer or an Avalanche. yalpngulp 04-01-2004, 09:20 AM I cut the back off so it is like a 4dr Blazer or an Avalanche. How hard was it to do? did you fit a blazer cap on it? I too am looking to do this conversion, was just wondering how much work it is and how you get the cap to fit and line up. landtoy80 04-04-2004, 12:01 PM It would of been alot easier/faster had I had a tourch. I used hammer and chisel, hack saw with dull blade and skill saw with a metal blade. I don't know if a Blaze cap will work or not. It is still a work in progress. I have a lot of work to get it done. I think I should use a rollber (from a Blazer maybe) as the main supports, in the back by the tailgate were cut off. Right now the roof is bent down is the back of the cab now. I want to make a door or something that can be removed so the kids can ride in the 3rd seat still be able to put a piece of plywood in with the tailgate up. If I had a welder, things would be a lot easier. yalpngulp 04-05-2004, 01:12 PM do u have any pics u can post?, i'd love to see them landtoy80 04-08-2004, 09:23 PM http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/showgallery.php?ppuser=162355 I posted some pics Redonthehead 04-13-2004, 08:11 AM I just saw a burb with the back chopped like yours last weekend! West central MO. Didn't get a good look at the quality of work though. Assumed it was pretty rough, just a hillbilly party wagon.
