cig adapterstreetracer1 03-22-2004, 04:56 PM ok im gettin a temporary system for awhile and i will be running it off the factory hu and the amp uses the remote wire to turn on and off with car.. and im gonna run that to the cig adapter for now ... does the cig adapter shut off once the car/radio shuts off? or is there a timer for how long it stays on? i have a 99 grand prix gt. thanks Ripn12s 03-22-2004, 05:09 PM Im pretty sure that that cig lighter is constant 12v jagxk800 03-22-2004, 05:37 PM Yes, the cig. lighter, atleast the one off to the right near the floor is always on. My friends radar detector is plugged into it and it's always on. What you can do is wire the remote to the fuse for the radio in the fuse box, this way it comes on with the radio... that's how I always do it.. streetracer1 03-22-2004, 07:05 PM how i run it to fuse box? liek a clamp that connects to fuse? thanks .. im gonna be running a switch in the remote wire but i want the switch only if i want it off( ie- dad in car )and i know ill forget sometimes to flip it off everytime...thanks ryan Ripn12s 03-22-2004, 08:41 PM You can find fuse jumpers or whatever their called at almost any auto parts store jagxk800 03-22-2004, 09:51 PM yeah, you can do that... i usually just wire it up with a switch to the radio fuse, that way if the radio is off, so is the amp, and if you want to listen to the radio w/o the amp you can just use the switch.. streetracer1 03-22-2004, 10:45 PM ok thanks .. a fuse jumper...sound good... it wont cause any chances of a fire will it? thanks kilroypr 03-22-2004, 11:15 PM The cigarette lighter is always on. As long as you cover the wires joints with electric tape there should be no fire hazards. Remember the cig is always on :D. streetracer1 03-22-2004, 11:29 PM could some one post a link to one of those fuse jumpers .. ive been lookin all over the net for a pic of one so i know what im lookin for and i cant find that .. thanks a bunch .. ryan kilroypr 03-22-2004, 11:43 PM Hey, I did a quick search on yahoo and found what you want and is orderable online. http://www.autologictest.com/testlead.htm streetracer1 03-23-2004, 04:04 PM how do those work? Ripn12s 03-23-2004, 05:56 PM U dont need that kit. Go to autozone and look for a wire that has a block on it that holds 2 fuses and a wire going from that block that plugs into the stock fuse location. Shouldnt be more then 5 bucks vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
