I have a 1997 Grand Prix SE. The lights on the shift indicator in the dash intermittently don't light up in neutral and park. When the light doesn't show the shifter in park, a problem occurs when I turn off the vehicle. The key won't go into the off position and the shifter is stuck in park. The light displays the shifter is in the park position only when I push on the button on the front of the shifter knob, but it still won't move out of park and the key is stuck in the ignition because it won't turn to the off position. What can I do?

Try turning the steering wheel while turning the key to the off position. If that does not work then get to a GM Certified service center.
