Is there any way to investigate a check engine light on a 99 ranger without taking it to the shop? I don't hear or feel anything wierd, I just bought the truck used with 55.5k on it....it's in great shape otherwise.
I traded in an 03 that when I had for a month or so, the same light came on an it turned out to be the gas cap....
?????

If you live near an Autozone, go and get your OBDII codes read. I hear they read them free.
The codes are the first clue as to where the problems are. They do not tell you what the problem is but they can get your troubleshooting started. Get the codes and post them.

Cool, thanks, I was told it may go away after putting gas in it and/or resealing the cap....I will definately check into autozone though...
