1997 328ic - Heater Problemjvohland 03-21-2004, 10:27 PM 1997 328 Ic - Having problems with the heater fan. The unit will work correctly when you first start the car. After a few minutes the fan will go off for a second or two and the come back on. This will continue for a few minutes until it eventually will go off. You can turn the car off and the routine starts again? Any ideas or help would be appreciated. jamesvtm 08-11-2004, 11:55 AM not sure this is helpful... '96 328i - something on climate control circuit was draining battery. BMW dealer wanted many $ and BMW battery just to analyse, so I call a BMW dealer in Germany (Augsburg). Spoke to shop foreman. I described problem, he in turn gave me a likely culprit and location: fan output stage (power amplifier). 96 Euros 4 part + 30 min work. problem fixed. jeffreyb4me 08-11-2004, 10:36 PM the most common failure on these is the contro; unit itself [ I replace one a week on average ], it's the panel with the controls. easy to replace your self but you'll need to have it 'coded' to the car if you want the temp display in F, not C. malcolm brumley 08-12-2004, 05:25 AM I have an almost similar problem on my 93 325I. The fan cuts on and off repeatly on every speed except high. Can mine be the control or maybe the resistor pack? jamesvtm 08-12-2004, 08:17 AM after replacing the fan output stage, I found that my control unit no longer regulates the temp (at least when using the a/c) though the fan speed can be regulated. I will be replacing it. I hope that fixes it. Tip: also look at www.ebay.de for parts. jeffreyb4me 08-12-2004, 10:43 PM if your problem is ONLY with the fan [ panel display has always worked, no flickering or going 'dead' ] and the fan always runs on high speed, then it's the 'final stage' for the fan motor [ resistor block ] jamesvtm 08-13-2004, 08:41 AM i can regulate fan speed but changing temp settings has no effect theonebarkingdingo 09-03-2004, 03:39 AM Hi All, I guess my control panel died. the fans are still running but the display of the temperature and the fan controls all went dark on me after flashing for a few minutes. I'm trying to fix this myself and would appreciate any help !!! I guess it's the - BMW CLIMATE CONTROL REPAIR E36 ... I found this which explains most of it ... http://www.macadamizer.com/bmwfix.html but was wondering if people have tried any other solutions ? thanks in advance. malcolm brumley 09-04-2004, 04:21 AM For a follow up to my fan problem on my 93 325I I found the resistor pack for the fan speed has a thermal circuit breaker inside that was opening when the fan speed was anywhere except high. I soildered a wire around the circuit breaker taking it out of the circuit electrically and now the fan runs fine in all speeds. FCOBRAMAN 01-21-2005, 03:47 PM I sent my climate control unit to the guy selling the service on ebay. His ebay name is ccobsinc. This guy repaired it and it works mint now. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
