Frozen calipers

Okay, I just picked up an 85 Ranger for $500.00, that's good right? Anyway, I was driving it home and the front brakes have bound tight. It's like someone has their foot on the brake pedal permanent....

As far as I can tell it's only the front brakes, I never got the truck home. I'll get it towed soon. I released some fluid from the right front brake bleed nipple thinking maybe the mater cylinder was at fault, but it didn't seem to help, there was no visible extra pressure in the brake line.

The truck has been sitting and the weather has been wet, do you think the calipers could be stuck? And it's both sides!

Any suggestions would be helpful.......

it is possible the piston or slider bolts on the caliper are rusted. a large c-clamp will free them up temp untill u step on the peadle again. i suggest new calipers.

You probably will have to replace the rubber brake lines in front. They are a cause of the symtoms you describe.

if its been sitting Its probably the calipers. I'd replace them first But as Madmax said it can be the rubber brake lines also

when it comes to brakes with frozen calipers and liability it is best just to replace it all around the wheel area and inspect the booster and a total flush of the fluid

It wouldn't be the rubber brake lines as he said he bleed the caliper at the bleeder and that didn't help. More than likely the calipers need replaced.
