taillight inserts?streetracer1 03-18-2004, 10:52 PM i was on here like 2 months ago .and i read someone that on some gp taht the tail lights, like the red and orange plastic pieces where just insert and you could take em out? i have a 99 GP GT. is it possible on the 99? and i know someone that took their headlights, he took the clear corners and like took them apart and put a part in the oven at 250 temp for like 5 min then took it out and was able to like take the orange plastic insert and then it was now clear like clear corners... can i do it on the gp? thanks ryan jagxk800 03-21-2004, 02:29 AM streetracer1 03-21-2004, 03:32 PM doesnt work .. i tried signin up there b4 and i cant it come up with some errors to do with my web stuff. could u copy and paste some of the info here thanks jagxk800 03-21-2004, 05:11 PM hey ive seen alot of people asking about makeing your own clear corners an/or clear tails......heres a tip when makeing your own clear corners an/or clear tails...... inside your stock corner the reflector is not touching the outside shell. so you can stuff toilet paper between the too.. this helps so you dont mark up the shell... also stuff the 194 bulb hole with T/P.. so it dont mess up the inside of the light.. take a flat head screw driver an put in down in the 194 bulb hole.. now take your hammer an hit the S/D.. brake the reflector into small nuff peaces so it will come out the bulb holes.. people have asked do you have too seal them after .. umm no seal what you didnt open it up.... so no there is no sealing.. take your time an dont hit the screw driver to hard you dont wanna brake the shell.. hope this helps .. anybody whos been thinking bout doing it.. the same steps go for the taillights.. stuff brake an pull out...... but the white part in the taillight. the back up.... is a bitch to get out cuz it dont brake u'll need to cut it up an pull it out.. or leave it in an just push it down to the side it wont move an stell looks good.. i did that for bout a week till found something to cut the white part out........ Good luck...!!!! the TP. was for the front corner/clear corner.. the taillight has a space between the red part an the iner/out shell.. just becaeful not too hit the screw driver to hard an it brakes both the lens an shell... the reflecter below the lights. i just used spray tint. cleaned it them sprayed it about 5times an then put a clear coat. What do you mean you would like to clear your tails but leave the white part in? you mean brake out the red lens an leave the clear/white back up peace in.. if so yes you can leave the back up peace in there just push it into the corner. it fits tight an wont move anywhere.. an also yes chris their is a space between the red lens an the outside shell of the taillight has for useing tolet paper it is a pretty good idea to brake a hole into the red lens an push in some TP. it acts kinda like a stopper. also use TP inside/on top off the red lens this will help the inside of the taillight from getting marked up.. after youve cleared your tails youll see inside the taillight it looks pretty cool.... the 2nd light is always a lil easy cuz you know what your doing, were the first one you didnt. what did you do with the white back peace? push it tight into the corner. im thinking you can just put a lil glue on the rim of the white peace turn the tailight upside down an let it set.. if you look inside the taillight youll see the back light has a boreder an the white peace will fit right over nice an with a lil glue it will stay there..... just a thought to get your taillights a lil more pro look to them... use a philips instead. That way the forces would be distributed over a wider area. Then I didn't have to worry about putting it through the shell when I wacked it with the hammer. I also used a wire cutter to break some of the pieces up. I would get them sticking out of the bulb hole, and then just cut away. This way I didn't have to hit it w/ the s/d as much. Few scratches, but I am getting Plexus tomorrow. It's a polish for plexiglass. I was told to look at a motorcycle store. I know it's a lot, but it's most of the information from that thread... good luck.. i've seen it done and it looks really nice IMO.. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
