Will a automatic transmission form a 1992 passat fit in a 1990 passat wagon that is also a automatic? Mikanik 03-18-2004, 01:22 PM it should, the only thing is the 92 auto's have a electronic speedo unit, so you'd probably have to switch it back to the old style speedometer cable. you may wanna talk to a vw mechanic just to make sure.
