I'm interested in buying a Dodge Ram but I'm not sure which one to get a 1500 or a 2500? I heard that the 2500 has more power and is better in bad conditions. Which should I get ? How much of a difference in price is it?

Up to 2002, the 1500 and 2500 use pretty much the same drivetrain, although the 2500 is available with the V10 or Cummins diesel, which the 1500 is not. Assuming you were to buy the 5.2L (318 c.i.) or the 5.9L (360 c.i.), your fuel mileage and power will be pretty much the same, assuming the gear ratios are spec'd the same.

If you aren't going to use the truck for towing a huge load on a continual basis, I'd go with the 1500. The ride quality is much better than the 2500 or 3500.

1500 is a 1/2 ton, best ride, selection of the V6 and all V8's.

2500 is a 3/4 ton, little harder ride and selection of all V8's and V10, as well as diesel.

3500 used to be only a dually, in the new trucks you can get a 3500 with single rear wheels. These are 1 tons. V10 and diesel. Hardest ride.
