governorroper2000 03-17-2004, 03:40 PM ok, so i bought myself a '98 S-10 sidestep. it works wonderfully, and i love it, but i'm out the other night on a nice, straight piece of road, and i'm thinking, well, it's bout time i buried the needle in this thing. so i drop two cogs, hit third gear, and take off. shift to 4th, and it's still pulling strong. once i hit 150 km/ph, the damned governor kicks in, and she starts to bog out. so, my question is, how do i get rid of the governor? i dont' want to unhook my speedometer, and i dont' want to have to try to jump the governor every time i want to drive fast. hell, i dunno if i even can jump it in a little truck like that. so, does anyone have any advice? thanks in advance doc13ryde 03-18-2004, 03:27 PM You can buy a chip at a local car shop they work good Ive heard that on some cars you can before you hit the governor turn your key forward and it bypasses the governor but the Chip is the best way to go skr8pins10 03-19-2004, 11:07 AM v6-power programmer I4-toggle switch to the speedo wire. Of course you will lose your speedo when you switch it on. roper2000 03-19-2004, 12:37 PM excellent. thanks for the advice. does anyone have any other ideas? i'd like to not lose my speedometer. and i have another question as well. if i do switch the speedometer off, once i'm over the speed that the governor kicks in at, if i turn the speedometer back on, will that cause any sort of damage? skr8pins10 03-19-2004, 11:07 PM All it does is cut the fuel flow to the injectors. It does'nt hurt anything but your warranty. Check this out and do a search for speed limiter. It's a great website for s10 owners. www.s10forum.com vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
