Do I Really Need The Water Pump Socket?

Do I Really Need The Water Pump Socket For My 1995 Aurora? The Only Tool Available Says It Will Work For The 1997 Auroras And Up. Have Any Of You Used It For Your 1995 Aurora Only?

I have a 96 aurora. Changed it all by myself!!! Dealer want to charge me $180 for the tool. I used a screwdriver and a "soft"hammer. make sure the seal seats (use specific rtv stuff)and area is clean-clean! I've had no problems (1year ago).

HELL YES AND GET THE HEAVY DUTY ONE NOT THE CHEAP THIN ONE YOU WILL BREAK THE TEETH OFF!!!!! I USED THE SCREW DRIVER AND HAMMER FOR 5 HOURS ONE NIGHT. THE NEXT DAY i FOUND THE TOOL. CHECK YOUR AUTO PARTS STORE FOR THEIR BORROWING PROGRAM. YOU PAY FOR IT THEN YOU TAKE IT BACK FOR A FULL REFUND.
