30 x 9.5" BFG AT'smarkk 01-06-2002, 07:47 PM Anybody running 30" BFG's? I need (want) to get some BFG AT's soon. How do they look? Are they noticably smaller/skinnier than the 265/70-15? I really want 31" but I will be towing a trailer in the future and really don't want to give up any torque. Any comments would be appreciated. And yes, I did a search and found nothing. Thanks, Markk IggyB 01-06-2002, 09:07 PM I have 30" BFG AT's on the Frontier for the winter. They look skinnier than 265 but do not look any smaller. Sindie 01-06-2002, 09:12 PM If you want to do some serious offroading get some Mickey Thompsons. O1SalsaX 01-06-2002, 09:12 PM Markk, what state are you in? I have a set of four Comanche LT Radial A/S 30X9.5r15LT M+S with about 200 miles on them. The tread pattern is similar to the BFG A/T tire. Im only looking for $150 for them. Im in NY on Long Island. Let me know if you're interested. You probably wouldn't tell much difference. I pull a trailer quite a bit and can't tell the difference between the stock tires and 31's. I had that concern also; that's why I didn't go with 32's. markk 01-06-2002, 11:23 PM Thanks for all the replies! Sindie & 01SalsaX: Thanks, but I really want BFG's. ScottG: That's what I really wanted to hear! I really want to go with 31". Have they negatively effected the ride or performance in any way? How about gas mileage? How heavy of a trailer do you tow? Thanks again! Markk ScottG 01-07-2002, 02:44 PM Originally posted by markk ScottG: That's what I really wanted to hear! I really want to go with 31". I ran the stock tires for 50,000 miles, and have had 31X10.50 Pro Comp A/T's for 10,000 miles. I pull about a 3,500 lb. Jeep, as well as, a bass boat that probably weighs about 2,000 lbs. I know 31's must affect the gearing somewhat; but it must not be to much of a change. Interestingly, severally people have posted that they checked the speedometer with their GPS and found that it was a little off with the stock tires, but is accurate with 31's. Stormy 01-07-2002, 02:54 PM These are 265\75R16's on a 01'. I know that they are the wrong size but they are close (about 1 1/2" taller) markk 01-07-2002, 03:42 PM Thanks guys! ScottG: That settles it, 31" it is! What pressure are you running? Markk When I had them, I was running at 30psi ScottG 01-07-2002, 05:15 PM I'm running 33 psi. I think anywhere from about 30 to 35 is the norm. ScottG 01-07-2002, 05:15 PM I'm running 33 psi. Posts like this make me laugh. No reasoning at all, just an opinion with nothing to back it up. Stormy 01-08-2002, 03:17 PM Originally posted by Sindie If you want to do some serious offroading get some Mickey Thompsons. If I had known that I wouldn't of spent my money on all the other off-road crap. God, where was she a year ago! ozxterra 02-01-2002, 04:20 PM Sindie whats a "1988 1/2 Porche'???? :D The BFG AT's rock in 30 or 31's. I tow, carry and wheel on mine in dirt, mud, sand, snow and Ice and they havent let me down yet. They are also great on the highway and dont squeal unless you push them. Thumbs up. Several PNWX members use them and seem to be able to go just about anywhere the MT owners can. They dont clean as well though. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
