serious tire questionmaverick27 03-16-2004, 01:19 AM hey guys it makes no sense why wider side walls give u better take offs then say some 18x8?? why would stock rims with big side walls be better? please explain. tanx u JoeWagon 03-16-2004, 01:55 AM To some degree, taller sidewalls have a ripple effect similar to 'ripple wall' dragster tires. If you look into that, you'll see why. EclipseRST 03-16-2004, 08:13 AM to add to that, some of it also has to do with the wheel mass... a smaller tire dimension, for example a smaller rim has less mass than a larger rim, so there is less weight to move with a smaller rim, and a larger side wall gives the tire more cushion so it grips more...instead of launching on a larger rim and hard tire with a small sidewall! wow its early, well i probably messed that all up, so dont kill me if i have something wrong! i'm goin to bed... peace Jake vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
