serious tire question

hey guys it makes no sense why wider side walls give u better take offs then say some 18x8?? why would stock rims with big side walls be better? please explain. tanx u

To some degree, taller sidewalls have a ripple effect similar to 'ripple wall' dragster tires. If you look into that, you'll see why.

to add to that, some of it also has to do with the wheel mass... a smaller tire dimension, for example a smaller rim has less mass than a larger rim, so there is less weight to move with a smaller rim, and a larger side wall gives the tire more cushion so it grips more...instead of launching on a larger rim and hard tire with a small sidewall! wow its early, well i probably messed that all up, so dont kill me if i have something wrong! i'm goin to bed... peace
