the 1G manifold on the laser has cracked...now i took a trip over to DSM tuners and they said it could be replaced with the 2G manifold... now they also said in another post that 1G and 2G parts cannot be interchanged! so whats the deal? as a replacement for the manifold i was gonna go with a header setup..now i have only found headers for the 2G...can it fit?

I think I read somewhere that it can be changed to a 2g

dont bother with the headers, there only for the looks. The 2G exhaust mani will bolt right on to your engine, i have done it myself. It is also a MUCH better manifold, it will resist craking much more than your 1st G and it has better flow. John Shepard uses the 2g manifold

thanks, its not for my car..its a buddy of mine and since my name is gonna be on it, i need show... this car is gettin done up..im lazy and have alot of things goin on now so i use the forums to save time and money (cha ching!).... basically he wants his $150 DSM to be sweet... brought to my house with no bumper no fenders one headlight... got a bumper, fenders, new hood, new windsheild, and soon new motor... i am planning on staying NA because of the reliability... i have suggested he buy H&R's instead of those fony ebay special "coil overs"... anyone here ever do a brembro mono block calliper upgrade? its common in the audi's, just a matter of fabbing up a mounting bracket... just a thought if anyone wants to track their car..im tired so im a little "blah" right now... thanks again for your help!

John shepperd no longer uses the 2 manifold. He did down to the 10s or so. I believe he is now running a large T4, not sure which manifold (cast or tubular).

The 1g and 2g turbo exhaust manifolds are interchangeable. The 2g is defintely better than the 1g as poeple have said. Many parts are interchangeable between 1g and 2g. My car has almost nothing 2g left under the hood...

sweet... wow tens? so what is the extent of the NA upgrades? is there a more aggressive cam grind somewhere? if i port the sh*t outta the head, will i see a major improvement? how about compression? can i go higher (say err... 13:1..hehehe...and run like the highest octane gas i can possibly find)... is there a lighter flywheel? im worried about crankwalk, these engines are known for it, any upgrades to make that risk a zero?
