haha.. before you give me grief i know this is not the mitsubishi forums.. yadayada.. but since i normally post in here anyways and a civic person i thought i would ask you guys first... need some clarification on this subject for whoever can help.. it seems that my girlfriend says that the 1998 mirages and the 1998 lancers are exactly the same body type just different engines and stuff.... and each country has a different name for the same car... mirage=usa and lancer=japan... so can anyone supply pictures and links or verify the type of each cause shes starting to make me believe that they are both the same car and stuff

They're 2 different cars in the US and Japan (and the Bahamas) and theyre not the same car the 98 mirage has no grille while the lancer does have one with that little chrome thing in the middle...the tails are basically the same but the lancer has extra lights on the trunk.

I have heard that they are built on the same chassis but im not sure, i will check it out.

car manufacturers do this shit all the time. its a cheap way of getting out of research for new cars. they just build on the same chasis but make modifications to interior, exterior (slightly), and engine..

does this sound familiar to anyone? like the Del Sol/Civic/CRV? or maybe the Firebird/Camaro? etc...

ha lol...i completely missed this thread. And Miataracer is right, the CRV and Element are both built off of the Civic platform.

i never could understand why mitubishi mad those two cars for. they both have the same simalarities. I geuss its just all about the money being making.
