Aurora fuel rail recall

I just read in this mournings paper where GM is recalling 93,572 1995-1997 Oldsmobile Auroras because the nylon fuel rail can degrade and crack. Said owners will be notified this spring of the recall, but what if you purchased your car used? Do you have to register it anywhere so they know where to send the info? I know that a few of you have already replaced your fuel rails, what happens in that case? Are you just SOL or will they refund your money?

Iys about time, of course I already paid to have mine changed. I wonder where they got that 93,000 number. Near as I remember , they only made like 20,000 a year

This is a quote from another article. Notice that month (May). That is about when they will send out those little postcards

---------------------------------------------------------------------

GM said its recall covers Auroras from the 1995 to 1997 model years equipped with the 4.0-liter V-8 engine.

"These vehicles are experiencing ... an unusual number of leaks," GM spokesman Jim Schell said.

Schell said GM had reports of 35 fires and potentially three minor injuries related to the leaky fuel lines.

The automaker will install a stainless steel fuel line to correct the problem after parts become available in May, Schell said.

Actually I believe GM sold 40-50k Auroras the first year, but then the numbers decreased after that (as GM kept increasing prices)...

GM has always offered to reimburse those who have paid to have a recall item fixed in every recall I have had to deal with. Just be sure to SAVE ALL OF THE PAPERWORK or else they will find a "reason" to say that you aren't elgible to be reimbursed.
