My 99 4runner LTD always feels like it hesitates when I hit the gas. It has 79k miles, automatic. Any ideas?

ok, just a guess but ya know it could be your tps(throttle position sensor) you are hittin the gas but if yout tps is bad its tellin the computer that the throttle is only partially open. good luck!

Could also be dirty fuel injectors.

Just experienced the same thing with my '99 Runner. Are you getting a check engine light too? My engine stumbled hard on initial acceleration and was tripping a check engine light for a rich condition. Ended up being a dirty hot wire sensor in the mass airflow sensor. Cost me $60 at the local dealership to have them diagnose and clean the element. Runs like a champ again. Hope this helps. -Jeff

Thanks for all of your replies. I took the throttle body off and cleaned that, checked all vacuum lines, added fuel injector cleaner, checked the plugs, replaced the air filter and still have the problem. This TPS thing, where is it located? How do I check it. I have never had an engine light come on. I am trying to avoid going to the $tealership. May be a last resort...

Dealer told me today (after running the $70 diagnostics) that I needed a TPS and an Air flow sensor. Any good online companies where I can get the air flow sensor? Already have the TPS on order.

Thanks
