My exhaust system broke off right behind the manifold. The pipe runs into the cat converter. I went to a parts place to try to get a replacement pipe. They can't find any exhaust parts for a 1995 Z24, 2.3 Liter.
I went to a few places, even a Monroe Mufflers place....they're all unable to help me.
I called a couple Chevy dealers...they can help me!!!! Great, right? No! They're trying to sell me a cat converter for $600.
They say that the pipe leading into it from the manifold is part of the cat.
Can anyone help me out here??? I'd appreciate it so much.

same problem i had with mine. it is not available available anywhere. i bought a catco high flow cat. converter for $50, pacesetter headers for $129 and a cat back exhaust for $179 for less then the stock converter cost and gained much horsepower. if you're just trying to go the cheap route, just have some exhaust shop weld a piece of piping to join where it's broken, if they can't. but one or more of the pieces i listed so that they can.

Thanks Perna...I appreciate your info. How long ago did you put these onto your car? Could you possibly give me a little more info on the exact parts you put onto yours?
I wouldn't mind spending that money on an improvement.
I'm going to check it out a little this weekend. From what little I can see, and the rest that I can feel, it's starting to look like it didn't necessarily break off the flange. It's too uniform of a feel to both the end of the exhaust pipe, and the flange that's on the manifold. there's no corrosion or decay on the pipe or flange. I'm going to see if I can get the flange off and see what I can do.

Thanks again!

i put everything on my car about a year ago. never had a problem. i got the parts from "summit" phone number (800)230-3030. they can give you all product availability and prices 24/7. very reasonable cost. i installed everything myself, pretty easy working with all new exhaust parts. I did take it to the shop to get welded together cause i didn't like all the clamps. my parts were a pacesetter headed, catco high flow cat, and pacesetter cat-back exhaust. summit will know exactly what you're talking about if you ask them. also, if you do install all this, your car will "tap" for a few days until the obd 2 computer adjusts by increasing the fuel to compensate for the increased "breathing" of your engine. As far an performance gain, after it regulated, it took about 1.2 secs off my 0-60 time, but that's also with an intake.
