After resolving several issues on my 97, DTC P0171 seems to stay alive. Have reset SES light, but code comes back to haunt me, again. Please, does anyone have some troubleshooting input to correct this code? I have resorted to blacking out SES light with some electrical tape for the moment.

Not much I can do to help you out but I can tell what my 97 FSM says about PO171. Its a emmissions related code for Fuel Trim Lean Bank 1. It will illuminate the MIL after it fails 2 times. Sorry I couldnt help more.

That is the same descritpion I had, but no other sensor/code comes up, and what I saw through scanner came up empty. I took a look at the FPR, it's clean. Cleaned MAF housing thouroughly, but I read that disarming the sensor itself and cleaning it may help. Has new sparks and wires, but I don't think this is the area of of interest of this particular DTC.

This reading is being generated by the #1 bank O2 sensor in the exhaust manifold?

Not to my knowledge. I don't have the scanner with me, but last time I used it all O2 sensors read OK. Should I look at the specific readings on them? Are there 4 of them, 2 per bank?

What I found after visiting and reading my particular DTC in the above site, was that I have a broken vacuum elbow at the PCV valve. I will replace ASAP and see what happens. Thanks.

Codes are the same for all Manufacturers under P1000. I this case it means "System Too Lean (Bank 1) " Hegos are working fine. You have a A/F ratio problem. Codes can be found on http://www.actron.com/code_lookup/index.php

Thanks. Actually, I looked further down the line, and found the other elbow broken as well. I will take it this week to the scan tool, and read O2 sensors again.
