Trim on body chipping paint?

So this is strange, but the trim on the body of my car is chipping. and only on the trim that runs along the side of the car. does this happen to anyone else? it doesn't look as if it had been hit against anything and the body is in excellent condition. Any comments or ideas on how to fix this? I received an idea about maybe finding spray paint and touching it up? I am just worried about not finding the perfect white. Please help!

Other than having the whole car masked off and sprayed, touch-up paint is the only other option. I've never heard of this happening to anyone, but you can get your paint code off of the build sticker and order the touch-up from the dealer for around $5.

Do you know where I would locate the build sticker in the car - I know they can be anywhere from the trunk to under the hood... Thanks

If I remember correctly your 95 will have the build codes behind the carpet on the side of your trunk around the power antena. 96-99 have it under under the spare tire cover.

Just go to a GM dealer and give them the VIN number. They will order paint to match your color. Is your Aurora green? My trim has chipped bad on the driver's side and faded bad on the passengers side. The passengers side is just starting to chip. The paint I got from GM matchs almost perfectly. It does stick to the trim well and hasn't peeled off.

I think that’s what I'll have to end up doing, I just was afraid I'd make it look worse with brush strokes doing in myself. Oh well, Oh yeah and my Aurora is white, so it's super noticeable with the dark marks along the trim... sad.

If you look at the build sheet for your car (usually in the trunk, may be behind the carpet near the power antenna for earlier Auroras, otherwise on the spare tire cover), the paint codes for your car is usually on the last line, following where you see BCCC (base coat/clear coat).

Didn't BK just say that?

Maybe, I tend to only read the new responses, and not the entire thread over again. BK didn't mention the "BCCC" tag...

for what its worth the paint has been coming off the little plastic door bumper trim strip on my black 95 for some time now. The touch up paint looks fine on it. I even got a little kit that included replacement clear coat if I fix chips on the hood and such that makes things look really good.

The GM supplied paint will be a spray can. So you won't have to worry about brush marks.

Thanks, I think I've been persuaded to buy the touch up paint
