I am thinking about getting an eclipse. I am looking at the years 1996-1999. I do not know much about the eclipse, and am looking for help.

From what I understand, it is best to get a GS-T or a GSX. Both put out about 210hp stock. Is this correct?

Are the GS-T and the GSX basically the same for the exception that the GSX being all wheel drive. Is this correct?

Which eclipses have turbos in them? All? or only the GS-T and the GSX? or none of them?

What type of speed is the eclipse known for, drag, handling, drifting...?

Thanks for the basic help.

ya both gst and gsx has the same power as 210 hp stock... and yes gst and gsx are the same car except gsx has all wheel drive.. all gsx are leather interior with power seats ( leather is optional in gst and they dont have power driver seat)...both gst and gsx are turbo charged and have the same engine 4h63T.... the RS and GS are not turbo charged.... gsx is good for drag racing and handling... gsx is also good for any race from the stop :) whereas the gst is good for highway racing (illegal) and for any races from the roll .. hope this helps :)

GST-FWD, GSX-AWD (both turbocharge 2.0l)

RS,GS=N/A

and eclipse react quicky with lil mods, so you dont need to worry about speed ;)

GST is a faster from a roll (highway races) and in the other hand the GSX launches like a motherfucker cus of its AWD and its usually better at drag races :) and it has better handeling..

if you want more info on DSM's check the sticky thread on top if you havent yet because there is alot of good info ;)

So, the RS and the GS are at about 140hp, true?

Do the RS and GS have about the same engine in it without the Turbo? I mean could you add a turbo to the RS or the GS and get similar performance to the GSX or the GS-T?

the RS/GS has a different engine (chrysler 420A)
while the GST/GSX has the Mitsu 4G63 engine

and no you cant just add a turbo and get "similar" performance

7B7, if you are thinkin' of buying a RS or a GS, then installin' a turbo, i suggest to just buy a GST or GSX ;) less money, less of a headache :)

The reason is, more things come into play than a single turbo.

if you were to get a gs or rs and spend the $$ making it turbo'ed, you could have bought a sweet ass gsx and dropped many many mods into it
