Doble intakeBlackShadowTSi 02-28-2004, 01:34 AM I'm thinking to put a doble intake in my Tsi Awd, my idea is to put them like (Y) so i will put in 2 of the sides air filters (in one of the the MAS), and the other side of the pipe in the Turbo, my idea is to leave one of them in the original place and the other one almost to the floor, near to the transmition. With this modification it supouse that the turbo will catch more air cause it have less restiction, and it will work better. I will try to do this and then I tell you guys. If you have some ideas or you already tried this and didn't work please let me know. Thanks ashah000 02-28-2004, 03:22 PM Yea i was thinking about doing this. But i dont know if it will do anything kjewer1 02-28-2004, 03:44 PM There are two things to consider. If you put the other filter lower, by the transmision, you'll be sucking in hot air that passed through the radiator. And a Y pipe is always a restriction in itself. Typically, especially on smaller turbos, the filter and the pipe (upgraded, not stock) flow more than the turbo compressor housing inlet can. But you should try it out anyway if you want to. Some PVC bends from home depot are cheap enough. Why not try it and see what happens. If you have a datalogger or a gtech or something, or can borrow one, you can even attempt to quantify the results. Should be fun, either way. :) ashah000 02-28-2004, 03:50 PM I think i may try this out one day...mine will be on an NT. Maybe it will work better with a Jeep TB (60mm) and a bored intake manifold. JoeWagon 02-28-2004, 06:49 PM What is ideal filter placement? With stock sidemount, you probably wouldnt want to put it in front of that side, but is there really much air going to where the stock filter is, without a snorkel?
