B.O.V. connectionBlackShadowTSi 02-27-2004, 07:13 PM I have a talon TSI AWD with a greddy (i guess TYPE-S) b.o.v. and I want a louder noise on it, is a good idea disconect the big hose that is entering to the b.o.v.?, that will make a louder noise?, Here you have some pics, (old pics but still the same B.O.V.) http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/405895/2 I'm thinking to put a doble intake, (thats an idea of my father and I) And I think that will work pretty good, I will try that and then I tell you ;-) BoostedSpyder 02-27-2004, 07:24 PM http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/9/web/405000-405999/405895_32.jpg you could if you wanted to, just turn the adjustment screw to a more harder setting, and cap the tube. it is never recomended to vent to the atmosphere, just so you know. or cars use a MAS to meter the air and venting messes with the readings. i'm not sure what you are saying when you mentioned a double intake, everything has to go by the MAS. BlackShadowTSi 02-27-2004, 08:08 PM I want to put 2 pipes and 2 air filters entering to the turbo to put more air on it, my idea is to put 1 filter in the original place and the other near to the transmition to catch all the possible cold air, I'll put some pics in my page when it's done. What did you mean when you talk about MAs? you said something about to adjust the screw, that will give me a louder sound without take of the hose? I like the cars that when they are stoped & you press the gas make that PSSSSSSSSS, ;).... TELL ME HOW TO DO THAT PLEASE!!!! THANKS RiceRocket18 02-27-2004, 08:58 PM as far as i know you disconnect the tube that divers air from the BOV to intake. you only have to disconnect the end that's connected to the bov tho and then seal the tube (NOT THE BOV of course :nono: :grinno: ) and make sure that you twist/turn the diverting tube that's still connected to the intake slightly clock wise to get it out of the BOV's way. so when you release the gass the air is vented out from the BOV with a smooth and PSSSSSSHHH noise. i had my diverter tube disconeected and left right in front of the BOV for a while and just got it moved out of the way today. and the resulting sound is much longer and smoother not like the previous quick PSSST. now it's more like PSSSSSHHHH. :grinno: i have no idea what the nob does on the BOV tho. i have the same type-s and it says clock wise hard and CCWise soft. RiceRocket18 02-28-2004, 06:52 PM here are some pics... this is after i moved the hose out of the BOV's way. :) http://www.digitalinvent.com/files/bov.jpg also.. can anyone tell me where the downpipe is from this picture. and is it modded? thanks :lol2: http://www.digitalinvent.com/files/turbo.jpg 95eclipse-gsx 02-29-2004, 01:29 AM all i can say is that u need to go for a car wash :D clean the engine bay :chair: i think ur air intake should be sucking more mud than air.. its fdirty :) RiceRocket18 02-29-2004, 02:05 AM :angryfire i know!!!... i already ordered a new one!!>. damn it.. stop making fun of me alright. what would you recommand to clean the dusts and dirt in general.. under the hood. is a can of air duster ok? i wash my car very often.. just don't know how to clean the inside properly. :uhoh: FourG63 97GST 02-29-2004, 02:53 AM yea u need to clean that engine bay. here's mine, its not perfect. but good enough, its good for finding oil leaks :) http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=844493 95eclipse-gsx 02-29-2004, 03:02 AM hey fourG63 97gst.... i like ur valve cover color.. did u do it urself or did u buy it.. how much did it cost??? FourG63 97GST 02-29-2004, 03:09 AM Yea I did that myself, thats semi-polished I wanted to polish it but didn't want to take it off the car, its takes alot of hours and I kinda gave up :) I bought another so I can polish on my spare time though. RiceRocket18 02-29-2004, 01:40 PM ok... you guys didnt answer my question. what did you use to clean the bay RiceRocket18 02-29-2004, 04:12 PM i tried my best and wipe off most of the dirty today. most areas i just couldn't reach with my hand. :(. unless there's any easier and efficient way of doing it. please spell it out ashah000 02-29-2004, 04:28 PM WATER ... heheeh just got to be careful with it. Cover up anything important. And then I have heard you can use tire shine stuff to make your engine bay shine. Just use it in small amounts... I have not tried this yet. goneturbo 02-29-2004, 04:30 PM To clean it you just spray some engine degreaser and then rinse it off with water. the drivin quarter car washes are the best place to do it so that you dont get the dirty oil all over your drive way. RiceRocket18 02-29-2004, 04:43 PM you mean turn on the water and spray it all over under the hood!!??... what if the water gets into the electrcal wires and engine parts. FourG63 97GST 02-29-2004, 07:08 PM I used degreaser and a hose and sprayed it down. you seem like a noob though, I dont recommend you hosing your engine down just yet. the car prolly wont start afterwards :D but I'll post in detail how I did it in a few.i'm late for my DSM meet :) EclipseDuDe 03-01-2004, 02:24 PM Ummm.. i did the same thing that Ricerocket did. I removed the hose from the B.O.V and went out to test it. When i floored it i would hear a loud POOOOOSSSHHHHHH and then my car dies :banghead: . It starts back up with no prob. So i stuck it back in and its fine now. Rice rocket Did yours work? Is there something i didnt do? What is that hose for anyways??? thanks RiceRocket18 03-01-2004, 04:17 PM did you seal the hose? that's weird that your car went off like that. you should be able to drive with the hose disconnected as long as you seal the hose so the dirty air doesn't get back into the intake. the point of the diverter hose is so that the remaining air that the BOV vents out gets diverted back to the intake. disconnecting it from the BOV only vents the air back into the atmoisphere instead of the intake. EclipseDuDe 03-01-2004, 09:01 PM yea... i sealed it with a gatorade cap. it fits perfectly and then tightened the screw. I also noticed that the BOV leaked air when not reving the engine. I started it up and put my hand by the hole that the hose was connected to and i could feel a little air coming out. Is my BOV leaking air? Im getting the TurboXS RFL soon so its not a huge problem. RiceRocket18 03-01-2004, 09:05 PM yeah... as far as i know BOVs shouldn't have any sorts of premature leakage. that's the point of having a aftermarket BOV since stock plastic ones leaks air. so i would soon get that replaced if i were you. BoostedSpyder 03-02-2004, 12:28 AM go to the local u-pay-u-spray like goneturbo said. i use saran wrap to cover the air filter [allthough yours could probly use it ] click on the degreaser and away you go. spray that shit everywhere and then switch to high pressure rinse and wash it out. you will also have to rinse your winshield off, but i probly could have let you find out about that the hard way. you drop the hood like 'ya, my shit is clean as hell' then see everything you just cleaned all up on your winshield..... about the car shutting off, it is very common because the MAS reading is off. i think it has to do with all the other mods i have, but mine shut off untill i got my fuel pump, UICP, and boost controller put in. i just did a big write up on the type-s in the thread marked type-s. soyee7 03-02-2004, 03:19 PM when you wash your motor what should you cover up. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
