I have a 97 serria ext. cab 4x4 with the 5.7L.
Yesterday it rained and snowed all day. When I went to drive home from work, I turned the wipers on. When I turned them off, they just kept right on going!! No matter what setting the delay was on, they would run constantly. They even ran when the switch was turned completely OFF! They eventually did stop, but when I tried to wipe the windshield again got the same thing. Has this happened to anyone else?
Is it the switch or the motor?

70Camaro,

My wipers also went nuts 2 years ago and they just work out-of-control. Some people told me to buy a new Wiper Motor and some told me about a module so when I was in Miami 2 years ago, I bought (original OEM GM Part) a Wiper Control Module for USD 31.95. This is a small module in the Wiper Motor with a 3 pic male plug connector. Just open the 3 screw cover of your Wiper Motor and you will see the module.

Good Luck...!

I agree with Titanic on this one. The module is your problem.

It should be available at any parts store, it looks like a printed circuit board, and is easy to replace.

This is a common problem with these trucks.

You might want to check with your local dealer. There was a recall on the circuit board in your year range. This was a "safety related recall" and was repaired at no cost to the customer, regardless if you were the original owner or not.

Yes, the dealer replaced the "wiper module" and so far no problems... :)
