lights out on radio/CD/tape playerjjjppp 02-27-2004, 08:23 AM I have a 1998 Toyota Camry XLE with a combination radio/CD/tape player. All the lights on the unit are out, but the unit plays fine. All the fuses are good. Can the bulbs on the front panel be replaced? Any ideas for a bulb source? Thanks. yotatechie04 02-27-2004, 11:30 PM There are no bulbs in the face plate in the combo deck. It's illuminated by LEDs. There is a possiblity that there could be a short on the board in the face plate that's causing the whole player to not light up, and also there could be a wiring problem. Have you tinkered with the wiring harnesses in the back of your player before? jjjppp 03-10-2004, 11:24 AM I haven't had the unit out yet. At about the same time, I had some of the LEDs on the heat/AC unit go out. The garage just replaced those LEDs and now everything seems fine with that part. I was hoping to do the same with the radio/CD/tape unit as well. yotatechie04 03-10-2004, 12:05 PM Well, hence the fact that you said you haven't had the head unit out of the dash yet, I figure that it's more than likely the LEDs on the panel. If you would have taken the unit out before, there would have been the possibility of a shortage in the wiring for the display's LEDs. But it's not that difficult to change the LEDs, the only thing needed is a small working knowledge of electronics. I'm planning on replacing the stock green LEDs with some "cool blue" ones in mine sometime soon. But best of luck to you, post back, let me know how it worked out. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
