If you have the ribbed aluminum valve cover it's under the fitting that screws into the valve cover. Right where the hose is.

Thanks for info, will look for it there. Does the valve cover have to come off do you know?

No, it doesnt have to come off. Just unscrew the plastic fitting.

to locate for that, look under your MAP sensor and towards the driver side. It's inserted into a manifold and has a very large hose coming out of it pointed towards the front of the car.

Now, after you find it respond to this thread and tell me how to get the thing out to replace it!

If I remember right that motor has the big flat intake manifold. Be really careful. The hose on the valve is molded and is very easy to crack after its been around a few years. If it breaks you might as well plan on pulling the upper intake off and calling the dealer for the hose.

the pcv on the 660v6 is a challenge to get at. easiest way is to unbolt the throttle body, unbolt the egr tube, then unbolt the upper plenum and lift enuf to get at it.

you can also try just removing the rear valve cover and dropping it low but you need patience and a swivel to get the w upper 8mm bolts off.

what does a pcv valve do?

The PCV valve is just one part of the PCV(Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system. The PCV system removes all the volatile gases n such that sneak past the rings into the block, and burns them in the engine. The PCV valve is only a one-way check valve.

so is it like another egr valve?

Not quite...
EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) takes burned fuel gases from the exhaust system back into the intake and recicles them to lower CO2 emissions and add more volume to the air/fuel mixture to lower fuel comsuption.
PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) takes the fumes and contaminants from the burned motor oil and burns them before letting them escape into the outside.
So, one takes care of the exhaust gases (EGR) and the other takes care of the burned motor oil (PCV) they both help keep the environment.

The EGR valve also reduces knocking/pinging by reducing combustion chamber temps, allowing you to run lower octane fuel.

Hmm, I have a 90 v6 auto Corsica w/ 127500 miles on it, and I get bad mileage. I don’t know when the last time an egr valve, or a PVC valve was were replaced, but I could care less about the PVC. Were exactly is the EGR valve, I have looked and looked, and I can’t seem to find it. Is it possible to clean it up instead of buying a new a one?
