I have recently replaced the crappy basic cassette stereo in my silverado for a way better Kenwood cd player and it was very supprisingly easy. I am hoping that the speaker replacement will be the same. What I was wondering is how to remove the door and rear corner panels to change out the speakers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have figured out how to do the doors. I replaced the factory full range dual cone speakers with Clarion component speakers and there is a world of difference. The way I went on removing the door panels is to start by removing the screws that are in the handle that you used to shut the door. Then I took a slim screw driver and carefully pried under the panel that holds the power window and door locks. Then of course carefully unplug the connections. Then I took the trim ring around the door handle that you open the door with by using that slim screw driver to slip it in directy at top center of the ring on the inside and gently pried out from the center to get the snap hook to let go from the handle area. Holding the top part so that it dont pop back in place I took the slim driver and pried out on the another snap hook at the back edge of the handle area and it pretty much popped off. Then pop off the little plastic piece directly on the inside of the side mirror by pulling up and it will pop right off. Then you can see the little grooved studs that snap the door panel on place. I started the top one with a flat pry bar carefully as to keep from scratching anything. After I got the first one started it seemed like the rest came out fairly easy. After that all I had to do is pull out from the bottom a little bit and lift up on the whole panel and it come right off. I would still appreciate some help with the back panels where the rear speakers are located. If no one posts with help I will try to feel my way through the back panels.

I just posted the same question - how to remove rear speaker trim in my Silverado and no answers to what I thought would be an easy answer...
