I need some help on deciding how much to lower my ride. At the moment, with stock springs and 17inch wheels it looks like an off-roader, and being 4wd I guess it potentially could be. But I dont want to lower it to much so that the car bottoms out over every cigarette butt. I cant decide between a 40mm lowering or a 50mm lowering. Is there any one out there with a P10 who has experience with this. Some photos would be great to help me decide!
Also, what type of springs are the best bang for your buck. Dont want to spend to much, really just want the looks.
Last thing, is it easy to install the springs yourself or is it best to get a professional to do it? In NZ, if you could do it yourself you could save $150, and Im keen on that!:monkeypis

Long time no hear kiwi brother :D :D :D

Go for the 35mm or 40mm kit with 'king" springs if you dont want to spend to much. You get them here in NZ and are about the cheapest you will find, unless you want to fork out more mony on another brand. I know they came in a 35mm 40mm and 50mm.

Also i'm sure if you go more then 40mm you will have to get the car certified which will cost you more money(thats what i was told when i had mine done).

If you go to the 50mm you are going to get a ride that i dont think you well be happy with.
You will feel every little bump and all that will happen is your shocks will start to work overtime and stuff out in no time.

I guess for looks you only want to fill the arch with tyre/rim, so measure the "gap" you want to fill up and maybe go with that.
I know of a few people here that have only used a 35mm kit and it tucks the wheels up nicely into the guards.

For $150 i would get them to do it and safe a lot of time and pissing around :D :D !!!.
When they done mine i had the car back in less then 2 hours.

Hope this helps you out a bit.

Cheers

How much did you lower yours Primera Man. You are riding on 18's? I think Ill lower it 40mm, thats what Ive heard is the best for 17's. Do you know much about Jamex lowering springs. Ive seen them avaliable for about $399. I can get the car lowered at Mag and Turbo for about $550, thats with King Springs I think.
Thanks for the info.

I ended up using the 40mm Eibach springs on 18" rims and got the look and ride i was after.

Cant help you on the Jamex springs sorry.

Have you tryed Lovells Springs ?
There phone is 0800 45683557, they may be able to help out to with a cost etc.

I had mine done though "Pro-form" here in Palmy which do a lot of lowering jobs.
$550.00 is a really good price, it cost me $650.00 just for the springs and fitting.

40mm should easy give you the "look" your after as the P10's dont seem to have such a gap to fill as the P11's do

Im confused? You say here that you used 40mm Eibach Springs. Is that a 40mm drop? On Ericdd's website its says a 3 inch drop, which is 75mm. (I think 1 inch = 25mm). So if im after some lowering springs, do I ask for springs that lower the car the amount I want from standard? Or does the "40mm" mean something completely different?

Sorry about the mistake...i have put you wrong. I should have checked back and corrected my mistake's in the other thrreads. I haven't changed the email since i had it done.

I started of with a 3"(80mm) drop but it was way to low and the smallest of bumps etc you could feel. Way to hard on the butt. I was in to much of a hurry to get the car finshed and should have looked into things better and not taken sales men words.
So since then i have had the springs replaced with a 40mm kit which is way better.
The 40mm will drop the overall height of the car 40mm.

Sorry for the mistake and thanks for pointing it out to me.

Ericdd...hope you read this !!!

I recognize eibach, but (to me, anyway) I don't know a whole bunch about the aftermarket, but I know a bit. Maybe KONI could be your King's, cuz' KONI makes good shit.
Anyway, I would lower about 60 mm personally, so the average guy can say "whoa, thats the shits"
Do what u want, though, after all, its your car;)

Hello, Kiwi boy's
I have a Primera here in NZ with Jamex Spring, good springs but did not lower the rear enough, so i had to reset them an inch to even them up.

Another Kiwi! How much did you lower your Primera. Do you have a P10 or P11?

I have a P10- TM model, It was surposed to lower it about 45mm, but it lowered the front close on 2 1/2 inchs, and the back about the 45mm, thats why i had the rear springs reset about an inch,
Here are some pics off the Canze homepage, (if it works)

Hey, nice wheels man. The car looks good. So, is your car lowered 45 mm at the front in those pictures, or 2.5 inches. I need to decide how much to lower mine. Info appreciated
Cheers

I think you maybe a bit confused the front springs are factory Jamex spring, it was only the back ones that i got reset, The Jamex book said it would lower the car about 45mm allround, but they lowered the front about 2 1/2 inchs at the front & the rear the 45mm quoted, by resetting the rear springs an inch it evened it up. (hope this helps and make sense)
I am from Christchurch, Where are you guys from????
