CD changer help!

I have a head unit from a 97 with the cd button in my 95 right now. When I press the CD button the screen displays NO DJ, which is good and it works. Another interesting thing is that when I put the radio in all my presets on the old radio were on this one which to me means that the memory is at the RCU.

Best Buy has now offered a 10 disk mp3,cd, cd-r changer at around $200 and comes with all the nessecary cables.

Now my question is given the fact that the radio that I put in has the same number of connections as a radio with out the CD button, does this mean that the connections for the changer go to the RCU?

If anyone has a factory CD changer can you tell me where the cables for the changer go into?

When I pulled the head unit out there were only two connections, I'm hoping that those with the changer also only have two connections. That would mean that I would not have to run the cable through the car I could just keep it all in the trunk.

Thanks

Looks to me like the CD changer wires all goto the "rear chassis unit". See page 5 and 6 of the referenced file below.

Look here for wiring diagrams (http://www24.brinkster.com/sdhartney/linc/1996towncarjblstereo.htm)

It'll be in the PDF file titled "...system overview"153k, 16 pgs.

Thanks Towncar, From that diagram I can see that there would only be two wires from the radio.

I hope that the RCU for JBL/no cd is no different than a RCU that has JBL/10 disc changer. Otherwise I'd have to find a RCU that would have the nessecary connections.

P.S. do you have a part number for that cd changer door panel, I'd like to have something like that for the changer.

Thanks a million

Hmmm...

Very odd. The books don't have a part number, and the door dosn't either. It's most likely embossed on the back side of the panel though. I have to remove mine sometime soon 'cause my cartridge is jammed. When I do that I'll reply then if your still interested but it wont be foe several weeks cause I have other problems pending with me Camry. Some gutless fools just f'd it up trying to steal it.

LTDLTC...

The cover has no numbers on it.

Here's some shots if you like.... (http://www24.brinkster.com/sdhartney/linc/cd_wires/wireshots.html)

Thanks for the great shots of the RCU. It's just what I was looking for.

Darn it I wish Ford would put a part# on it, but I'm not suprised in the least. Looks like I'll have to mount it in a different location.

If your factory unit ever goes out on the fritz and don't want to hand out big $$$ for a outdated changer, check this product Out! (http://ssiamerica.com/products/neochanger/) .

For $249.99 and CD-RW and mp3 playback makes it a very good deal IMHO.

Once again thanks :)
