1990 camry idle problemSAYS56 02-18-2004, 02:48 PM I had motor mounts put in and ever since then the car has been idleing to high until yesterday when I started the car up to move it. I didn't let it warm up and just started it and moved it. Now I get in it this morning and now it wont idle. It is like the idle adjustment was changed. The car runs great but just idles to low. Thanks for all replys. Joe W 02-18-2004, 03:21 PM The mounts themselves won't mess with the idle, but check the vacuum lines and elect.connections to see if they were inadvertantly knocked off. SAYS56 02-18-2004, 03:44 PM Hey thanks Joe W yeah I only said the motor mounts were done recently because that is when the idle problem started it was idling way to fast after they did them. But now after I moved the car is when it started iding to slow. I checked the vaccum hoses and the electric connections and everything seems to be in place. It is like on a carburator when you slow the idle down with the set screw. This car is fuel injected so im thinking it has something to do with some sort of idle valve or something like that. I guess I should go out and get a book on this car to see if I can find the problem. Where I live there are no honest mechanics. I had the motor mounts done and it took them 3 trys to get it right they kept giving me the car back and it was shaking worse then the time before. They said the new motor mounts were bad 3 times they were bad I know there liquid filled but come on 3 bad ones for 1 car. Anyway if anyone has any ideas on if this sounds like maybe some fuel valve or something please let me know. Thanks SAYS56 02-18-2004, 04:04 PM Oh I was going to say the vaccum lines and the electric connections was the first then I thought it was that is what it is acting like when it is trying to idle. Thanks BMW_4.4i 02-22-2004, 09:20 PM What is it idling at once it is warm. Some cars now idles at like 400RPM (thats what my bimmer does). I know Toyotas do not usually idle this low. Does it stall out, or almost stall out? SAYS56 02-23-2004, 08:02 AM Thanks for the reply. I found the problem it was the big hose that runs from the airfilter case to the throttle body. It was split and made it suck to much air. Thanks jett-n-along 02-29-2004, 11:05 PM Ok i just saw this post and we were working on the car today as matter of fact. I had no probs changing the plugs.. But the car is still idling too rough (around 500-600)rpms i like it at 800-to900rpms this car seems to run smooth.. however i cannot find the screw to the idle adjustment... can you please help. Im unfamiliar with 90 toyotas. thanks for the help in advance.. Jett-n SAYS56 03-02-2004, 01:10 PM Im not sure where it is and my problem I resolved by replacing the the large hose from the air filter to fuel body.
