New member. I have a 98 Sierra with a 305 and it sems as though I'm always adding coolant. A buddy has a 97 and has the same problem. He's a pit crew chief for a race team and he doesn't seem to know what is causing the coolant loss. I've been reading the posts on coolant loss on other vehicles...was wondering if anybody else has had this problem with their GMC.

Not head gasket, intake gasket... This is a common problem with these, mine too. You can either replace the gasket or keep filling the coolant, but be sure to check your oil and make sure your not gettin coolant in the oil.

My truck had a similiar problem and it was a 14 dollar part. It was a line fitting that screwed into the intake and the intake hose clipped right into it. It was leaking on my truck and the coolant would run along the valve cover making look like an intake leak but it luckily it wasnt. I hope you have the same luck. Cheers

I have a 99 Sierra. The Low Coolant light came on about a month ago. I did some research on it and found out that some Sierra's have a radiator with plastic end caps on it and some do not. Ones with the plasitic end caps tend to run hotter than normal and may over heat and or loose coolant due to evaporation. I have the plastic end caps on mine and so far I have not had any more problems since I added some coolant.
