Poweredbyhonda 01-02-2002, 01:33 AM thanx man ALOT l8er Chuck-Hu$tleLXi 01-02-2002, 05:13 PM My definition of ricey = Slow imports with more cosmetic mods than performance modes i.e, 5 foot spoiler, huge ass fart can muffler, body kits with stock rims, too many stickers is major rice a roni! That type of stuff. My motto has always been, dont make a car look faster than it really is.:) GhettoLegs 01-11-2002, 08:26 PM If you would like to see examples of ricey vehicles... check out www.beaterz.com :D RIL 08-24-2002, 09:39 PM wagsaccordsir 09-21-2002, 12:02 PM LOL, Ricey!! My motto has always been, dont make a car look faster than it really is.:) LOL major rice a roni!:alien: Paonessa 03-23-2003, 09:53 AM the term rice was coined cuz some cars(especially honda's) tendency to burn oil when they engage vtec(or other non-honda form of cam phasing) which, to some, the burning oil smells like burnt rice. the real term is rice burner Chuck-Hu$tleLXi 04-03-2003, 12:26 AM Dude, thats not the reason its called a rice burner or the reason that imports are reffered to as rice. That term has been around since my dad had his 67 Datsun 1200 back in 78, and well before that. Its a rude term used to poke fun at where the car is built. Paonessa 04-03-2003, 01:01 PM it actually startd with the chain driven subarus that first came over here. they were 2 stroke and the burning oil smelled like rice. i'm sure it would have been called a "something else"-burner if it came from somewhere other than japan. you're right, but that's not the only reason why kaoru-tochiro 04-03-2003, 01:17 PM What's the difference between a guido car and riced out one? (I resent the term rice) Chuck-Hu$tleLXi 04-03-2003, 02:03 PM True, but the majority of people that use the term use it because of the location of origin of the car. I didnt know about the burnt rice smell, thats very interesting. A guido car to me would be a cadi or an old fire bird with the big fire chicken (pheonix) painted on the hood. The fire bird for sure. And Kaoru, rice is a rude term, I dont blame you, just curious if you are of asian decent? Not that it matters... MrSmith 04-03-2003, 08:51 PM Originally posted by Chuck-Hu$tleLXi Its a rude term used to poke fun at where the car is built. Man thats foul!! Chuck-Hu$tleLXi 04-03-2003, 08:58 PM I didnt come up with it. Are you calling me foul or the fact that thats true? MrSmith 04-03-2003, 09:01 PM No No not you. that fact that its a term to poke fun of were the cars from. Sorry not you. Chuck-Hu$tleLXi 04-03-2003, 09:07 PM Oh, not a problem, I was just making sure you knew where I stood on the subjet. I think the term is rude but it seems to have taken on a new meaning these days that isnt as rude as it used to be. I refer to most domestic cars as "crap." I would rather be driving my "rice buggie" with 180,000 miles than some domestic POS cavalier or grand am. I guess having the best and most reliable cars means taking some shit sometimes...we can handle! :D MrSmith 04-03-2003, 09:09 PM True , True. I see you have a Legend. are you on the Acura Legend board? I am.:D Paonessa 04-03-2003, 09:14 PM i wonder if other cultures have terms for american cars. Chuck-Hu$tleLXi 04-03-2003, 09:20 PM Yeah, I have the same name over at acura-legend.com. I go there a lot! Whats your name over on that board? MrSmith 04-03-2003, 09:23 PM It's the same. :D MrSmith. It's short for Smithsonic Boom But I tell people it's Mrsmith Wesson Chuck-Hu$tleLXi 04-04-2003, 10:02 AM Cool, you got a G1 or G2? MrSmith 04-04-2003, 10:30 AM G1 1990 LS Sedan.
