I am getting airbag code 12. As far as I can tell it means low battery voltage. How do I replace the battery without getting killed. Where is the battery? I have a 1996 Taurus LX.
Thanks in advance.

Be very careful with airbags, my co-worker has a Taurus and one day driving on the highway he leaned forward because he smelled some funny smell, like a roasted marshmallow smell and a moment later the airbag deployed in his face at 65 mph. Not a very good experience.
