Ding, ding, ding

I'm new here - you guys are great! Please help.

96 Aurora with 60,000 miles in South Florida goes ding, ding, ding.

Dealer says they all do that.

I say the little light says Low Oil Pressure, and the temp is hi.

Dealer says no problem.

So we are supposed to find the dinger and squash it?

So the local BP station says replace the Oil Pressure Sending Unit, so we did that. And I say do a thermostat while you have the hood open. Did that.

Temp still reaches 240 which sounds too hot for me. Oil says 10 to 30psi.

BP says let's try replacing the water pump.

Dealer says just get a new car.

That ding ding ding is the cash register going...While most auroras run high temps (they are supposed to), that seems a bit high
Good luck...but if you are getting decent flow...it ain't the water pump...fans working well? Watch that oil pressure...that is the key.

240 doesn't sound that high. The gauge shows 220 as normal operating temperature. 240 isn't that much hotter. That would just be slightly above the middle line. It might be slightly hot. Make sure that air paths to the engine are clear, the air filter isn't clogged, the coolant is mix correctly, etc. You don't have anything blocking the air grill under the bumper of the car, do you? (Like a bumper bra or something else.) Something like that would definitely raise the temp of the car.
But about the ding, do you know what the ding means? Is that trying to tell you it's too hot? I figure you are referring to the ding that comes from the message console in the center of the dash. Immediately after immiting a couple of dings, it gives you an error message on the message screen telling you what is wrong (or at least what it thinks is wrong). But that might be a whole problem in itself.
